important notes
. most essential oils should not be used undiluted or applied directly to the skin as this can irritate.  the exceptions are lavender & teatree, which can be used to treat superficial burns, insect bites, pimples and other skin problems directly.  use sparingly - a single drop is enough for bites and spots.
. most people with sensitivities to synthetic fragrances may not be sensitive to high quality essential oils, but do a patch test first if you are uncertain: apply a 2% dilution in the crook of the arm or on the back of the neck at the hairline.  if there's any reaction, it should occur within 12 hours.  if redness or itching develops, try a less potent dilution or choose an appropriate substitute for that oil
. use with caution, those oils that result in photosensitivity.  citrus oils like bergamot, cold-pressed lime and bitter orange can irritate the skin.  some of them will also cause uneven pigmentation of the skin upon exposure to sun lamps or sunlight.  use photosensitizing oils on your skin only at night, or stay indoors or wait at least 4 hours before exposing your skin to ultraviolet light
. daily application of the same blend of oils over your entire body for more than 2 weeks is not recommended.  different oils contain different chemical constituents; uninterrupted use of some oils exposes the liver and kidneys to chemical constituents that may be harmful over time.  it is wiser to vary the essential oils used at least every two weeks.  this gives your body time to process them and allows each oil to work on different levels in its own unique way
. do not take esesntial oils orally for therapeutic purposes.  safe ingestion of oils requires a great deal of training and is not recommended for beginners
. over exposure to an essential oil, either through the skin or through inhalation, may result in nausea, headche, skin irritation or emotional unease.  get some fresh air to combat these symptoms.  if you experience skin irritation or accidentally get essential oils in your eyes, use straight vegetable oil, not water to dilute the effects
. keep all essential oils out of reach of children.  in general, when treating children with essential oils, select only non toxic ones and use one-third to half the adult dosage.  some suitable essential oils for children are lavender, tangerine, mandarin, neroli and frankincense.
. be cautious about using essential oils during pregnancy

description:
fragrant oils are concentrated synthetic oils.  different mixes produce different scents.  some of the famous scents are widely known by the names given to them, e.g. calvin klein's eternity, davidoff's cool water, etc.  in the bath, perfumery and spa industry, fragrant oils can be used for producing perfumes, fragrancing bath products, home scenting, refreshing potpourri, etc.

to use:
. scenting and refreshing potpourri - add a few drops onto potpourri.  to thoroughly scent potpourri, place potpourri in a ziplock bag for a day after dropping a few drops of fragrant oils onto it.  to refresh scent, repeat steps.
. room scenting - place warm water into burner to about 3/4 full.  drop about 6 drops of fragrant oils onto water.  light tealight candle, place it in a burner and transform your space!
. blending - add 15 drops to 30ml blending oil
. scent-padding - dab on cotton pads and place them under pillows, cupboards, etc
. bath scenting - drop a few drops into warm water in a bath tub for a nice-scenting soak.
. special care - do no use on skin & cloth undiluted.  might stain cloth. not for internal use and during pregnancy.  store in cool shaded area.

caution: consult your physician if you have high blood pressure, are pregnant or have other medical concerns
